With just over 10 days remaining in this year’s Match Month campaign, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation is calling on the community to help finish strong. The foundation has already passed the halfway point toward its ambitious goal of raising $100,000, which will be tripled through matching funds from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Patterson Family Foundation.
That means more than ever, the opportunity is right in front of us; every dollar given between now and November 30th has the power to help turn $100,000 into $300,000 for Mitchell County.
For nearly a decade, Match Month has been one of the most impactful initiatives supporting community needs across Mitchell County. Donations, both large and small, grow SVCF’s unrestricted Community Impact Fund and strengthen the foundation’s ability to support nonprofits, respond to emerging challenges, and invest in future opportunities.
Founding Board Member Annie Nicholson-Moritz shared a powerful reflection on how she sees Match Month and the donors who make it possible:
“I always think of Match Month like a patchwork quilt. Some of the pieces are the same size, some are a little bigger. There are a few that are even larger, and some are so large that they anchor the quilt. But together they cover our county and give back a lot to our area. A quilt is so beautiful in all its colors, shapes, and sizes, just like all the donors who give to make our county strong. All the different donors make up such a wonderful quilt.”

As SVCF Executive Director, Julia Rabe noted, the quilt metaphor is more fitting this year than ever. “Every gift, whether it’s $10, $50, or $5,000, helps complete the bigger picture. We’re already over halfway to our goal, and the full match is sitting on the table. We just need the community’s help to finish the quilt. There’s so much momentum, and we want everyone who cares about Mitchell County to know that there is still time to make an impact.”
Match Month was launched locally in 2016 as part of the Hansen Foundation’s effort to help rural communities build sustainable endowments for long-term growth. Since then, Match Month campaigns have built a $1.5 million endowment for Mitchell County that will continue to grow and generate grant funds for our communities.
Donations can be made through November 30th, and all contributions during this time will be tripled.
