Access to quality childcare is one of the most important and increasingly urgent needs facing rural communities today. In Mitchell County, local leaders, families, and employers have all felt the effects of limited childcare options.

While the Volunteer Fair provides a one-day opportunity to meet organizations face-to-face, the MC Volunteers database ensures those opportunities remain accessible year-round. "This is really about making it easier for people to get involved," Rabe said. "Mitchell County has an incredible network of nonprofits and community organizations. When people connect with those opportunities, everyone benefits."

During its spring grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded just over $82,000 in grants to 16 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding:
