During its spring grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded just over $82,000 in grants to 16 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding:
Beloit First Christian Church, in support of Kingdom Kids Childcare Center
Mitchell Co. Rural Fire District, for an Infra-Red Camera
Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, for an AED
Tipton Catholic High School, for the purchase of an automatic external defibrillator
Glen Elder Volunteer Fire Department, for bunker gear
Solomon Valley Cinema, for improvements to the cinema aisle lighting
City of Cawker City, in support of the City Park beautification project
Mitchell Co. Regional Medical Foundation, for the Perdue Hospitality Home retaining wall restoration project
Mitchell County Strong, in support of launching Discover Mitchell County
Glen Elder Housing Authority, for an automatic door opener
City of Tipton, for a security camera for the Tipton Sports & Art Complex
USD 273, in support of 3-year-old Pre-K improvements
St. John’s the Baptist Catholic School, for the purchase of a media light kit
Tipton Christian School, for flexible classroom seating
City of Tipton, in support of the Flag Pole Project
Beloit Ministerial Association, in support of the food pantry
This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation's Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the SVCF Impact Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community's quality of life.
